Vice Premier Liu Guozhong Visits Cameroon

From January 17 to 18, 2024 local time, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Vice Premier of the State Council Liu Guozhong, upon invitation, led a Chinese government delegation to visit Cameroon. During the visit, Cameroonian President Paul Biya and Prime Minister Dion Ngute Joseph respectively met with Liu Guozhong. The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on bilateral relations and exchanges and cooperation in various fields between the two countries.

Liu Guozhong conveyed cordial greetings from President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang to President Biya and Prime Minister Ngute respectively, and spoke highly of Cameroon's development achievements. Liu Guozhong said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Cameroon 52 years ago, the two countries have always treated each other with sincerity, friendship and equality, and achieved fruitful cooperation in various fields, constantly deepening their friendly relationship. China is willing to deepen political mutual trust with Cameroon, strengthen the synergy of development strategies, adhere to mutual benefit and win-win results, and promote cooperation in various fields. The two countries should coordinate and cooperate in international affairs, promote South-South cooperation, safeguard the common interests of developing countries, and help build a high-level China-Africa community with a shared future.

President Biya and Prime Minister Ngute respectively asked Vice Premier Liu Guozhong to convey their cordial greetings to President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Keqiang. Biya expressed that China is a great friend of Cameroon, and thanked the Chinese side for the support and assistance provided to Cameroon's various development endeavors. The Cameroonian side firmly upholds the one-China principle, and this policy and position will not change. Ngute said, the two countries enjoy a time-honored friendship and close cooperation relations. The Cameroonian side is willing to further deepen cooperation with China in such fields as politics, economy and trade, infrastructure, culture and tourism, as well as international affairs, so as to bring more benefits to the two peoples and achieve new results in the development of bilateral relations.

During the visit, Liu Guozhong also inspected the China-aided National Assembly building of Cameroon, accompanied by House Speaker Cavaye Yeguie Djibril.
