Wang Yi Meets with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara

On December 6, 2023, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara, who is in China to attend the eighth Lancang-Mekong Cooperation (LMC) Foreign Ministers' Meeting, in Beijing.

Wang Yi congratulated Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara on assuming the new post and expressed confidence that the new Thai government will lead the Thai people to embark on a new journey of national prosperity and people's happiness, and carry forward the tradition of "China and Thailand being as close as one family". China will, as always, support Thailand in pursuing a path of modernization suited to its national conditions and playing a more important role in the international arena.

Wang Yi said that President Xi Jinping's historic visit to Thailand in November last year has ushered in a new era of building a China-Thailand community with a shared future. Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin's successful visit to China at the beginning of his tenure has injected strong impetus into the development of bilateral relations in the new era. China is ready to work with Thailand to implement the common understandings reached by leaders, and properly build a China-Thailand community with a shared future and advance practical cooperation in various fields. The two sides should render political trust to each other, increase exchanges at all levels, strengthen all-round exchanges, accelerate to advance the China-Laos-Thailand Connectivity Development Corridor Outlook, deepen cooperation in connectivity, economy and trade tourism and other fields, maintain a stable and unimpeded system of industrial and supply chains, jointly crack down on transnational crimes such as online gambling, telecom fraud and human trafficking, and continuously achieve new development of China-Thailand strategic partnership.

Parnpree Bahiddha-Nukara said that Thailand attaches great importance to Thailand-China relations, firmly pursues the one-China policy, and stands ready to strengthen strategic communication and deepen practical cooperation with China. Connectivity cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative serves the interests of all parties. Thailand is willing to actively promote the early opening of Thailand-China and Thailand-Laos-China railways. Chinese high-tech enterprises are welcome to invest in Thailand to strengthen scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation between the two countries. He looks forward to greater facilitation of personnel exchanges between Thailand and China, and welcomes more Chinese tourists to travel in Thailand. Thailand will strengthen security protection measures and resolutely crack down on telecom fraud and other transnational crimes.

The two sides agreed to work closely to upgrade the LMC and bring benefits to people in the region.

The two sides also had an exchange of views on international and regional issues of mutual interest and concern.
