The President of the Liberia Marketing Association (LMA), Madam Lusu Sloan, the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Sirleaf Market Women's Fund (SMWF), Ms. Olivia Shannon, and Executive Director of SMWF, Madam Margretta Sawo Smith-General, made their comments at the program. They thanked three Chinese companies for their contributions to the project, namely, Wonderful New Energy Industry Company (Liberia) Inc. for the installation of solar energy street lamps, Zhongmei Engineering Group Ltd. for the construction of a borehole well fitted with a hand pump at the Jorkpen Town Market, and LC Opportunity Nature Resources Company for the donation of school and office materials including chairs and desks to the Rally Time School. It was a precious gift presented by the Chinese people to the Liberian people and a vivid symbol of the friendship between the Chinese and Liberian people.

H.E. Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, President of the Republic of Liberia has commended the government and people of the People's Republic of China (PRC) for pilot projects undertaken for market women and their children at the Jorkpen Town Market and the Rally Time School in Monrovia and spoken highly of the imminent contributions China had made for the reconstruction of post-conflict Liberia. She highlighted that the equipment and items would tremendously improve the conditions of the market and the school and enhance the capacity building of women and youth. She said Liberia would like to cooperate with the Chinese government and enterprises to promote Liberia's economic and social development.

For his part, H.E. Amb. ZHANG Yue expressed his delight at the rapid development of the friendly relations between China and Liberia, which was shown not only at the official level, but was also expanded to the grassroots. The Chinese enterprises provided assistance to the local market and school and actively carried out the corporate social responsibility.
