Pres. Sirleaf Consoles China

 

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of condolences to the president, government and people of the people's Republic of China over the distressing and sad news of one of the worst earthquakes to have struck China in recent years, resulting into the death of over ten thousand persons, the injury of several thousands others as well as the massive destruction of properties.

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, this sad event occurred in Wenchuan County, in Sichuan Province of China over the weekend.

 

In the message to her Chinese counterpart Hu Jintao, the release pointed out, Madam Sirleaf expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the Chinese leader and through him, to the government and people of the People's Republic of China, especially the bereaved families, for the irreparable loss sustained, following the disaster.

 

President Sirleaf also wished that the government and people of Liberia join the government and people of China in mourning this unfortunate event, the supreme creator will continue to grant the government and people of China solace and endow President Hu Jintao with wisdom, courage and fortitude to lead his compatriots during and out of this period of national mourning, the release added.
