The ambassador, who was accompanied at the Clay Street headquarters of the Press Union of Liberia by two of his staffers, was met upon arrival by executives of the Union.
During the visit, the Chinese envoy who praised the Liberian media for its reportage on issues and events, thanked the leadership of the Union for being on the side of democracy and working to cement diplomatic relations for the general good of Liberians.
Ambassador Yuxiao reiterated China's commitment to Liberia's development drive, emphasizing the need for the Press Union of Liberia to continue playing its advocacy role and encourage its members to join the development process of Liberia.
He congratulated the leadership of the Union for keeping its members together in this critical chapter of the country's history. Ambassador Zhou pledged to lend support to the Union whenever his mission is in the position.
Earlier, the president of the Union, George Barpeen, Expressed delight over the visit of Ambassador Yuxiao. He extolled the ambassador for the visit and urged him to lend support to the Union aimed at improving the performance of the Liberian media.
The visit by the Chinese officials comes barely a week after the Union officials paid similar visit to the Chinese Embassy in Congo Town outside Monrovia. During that visit, the Union, through its president, explained its plight and the plight of the entire Liberian media.
At Thursday's visit, Ambassador Zhou donated a set of computer to the Union. The donation followed recent appeal made by the Union to the Chinese ambassador.
