Wang Yi Meets with Guinean Foreign Minister Morissanda Kouyate

On November 29, 2021 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Guinean Foreign Minister Morissanda Kouyate in Dakar on the sidelines of the Eighth Ministerial Conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation.

Noting that Guinea is the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa to establish diplomatic relations with the People's Republic of China, Wang Yi said, the two countries have supported each other in safeguarding independence and promoting national development, and given each other a helping hand in tackling major challenges such as Ebola and COVID-19. The Chinese side appreciates Guinea's efforts to prioritize the friendship with China in its foreign policy, supports the Guinean people in independently choosing a development path, believes that the Guinean people have the wisdom and capacity to advance the country's political transition, and stands ready to continuously respect and treat each other equally and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation with the Guinean side.

Wang Yi said, China is pleased to see that Guinea garners greater development momentum from China-Africa cooperation, and is willing to work with Guinea to implement the important China-Africa cooperation initiatives announced by President Xi Jinping, so as to deepen the practical cooperation with Guinea.

Kouyate said, China is an important cooperation partner cherished by Guinea. Both sides' mutually beneficial cooperation in infrastructure, resources and telecommunications, etc. is full of vitality, and China's success in poverty reduction provides a valuable reference for Africa. Guinea firmly pursues the policy of being on good terms with China, and expects to strengthen across-the-board cooperation with China for faster economic and social development of Africa as a whole.
